23VNet, also known as hostit.hu, is a very well established company. They have been around since 1997, though they started off as a general IT services company. Today they offer good hosting and related services to their customers. They are based in Hungary and also have servers in Australia. Their site loads quickly and they seem to offer good overall services. The site is in Hungarian by default, but the native translation option does a good job at making it easy for English speakers to use it as well.
I haven’t really seen anyone complaining about uptime or reliability with this company. Their data center is well managed and maintained and they seem to use good hardware, which can help avoid any type of down time. I couldn’t find an uptime guarantee though, which is not good. Most people, however, won’t likely run into any serious outages so this isn’t going to be a major point of concern.
When you browse through the different features they offer you will see that there is something for everyone. They have shared hosting, VPS and dedicated servers so they can easily handle most types of sites. They provide cPanel, which is the most popular option. They also have MySQL, but only in some packages so keep this in mind. Most packages have email options, but there are limits. You really have to pay close attention to the list of features you get in each package because it changes quite a bit and will effect your overall service.
The support you get with this company seems to be fairly average. They don’t have any type of reputation for good or bad, which seems to indicate that they likely give you the support you need and little else. I didn’t see any self-help utilities such as a blog or forums or knowledge base. You can get in touch with their tech support anytime though.
The prices with this company are fair and in line with industry averages. You can’t just assume that you want the cheapest for a small site, however, because there may be features that are missing, which you’ll need. This can make it a little confusing for a newer webmaster. If you have been doing this for a while and you know what you need you can quickly browse through their different packages and find the one that will be perfect for you.
The prices for VPS and dedicated servers are quite competitive. If you are looking for a lower cost option for these types of hosting, this company might be right for you. Of course, they only have servers in a limited number of places so it isn’t for everyone.
While there are some points that you’ll want to watch out for, the hosting with this company is pretty good overall. If you want hosting in Hungary or servers in Australia, this company might just work out perfectly for you. Just be careful when looking at each package as the features change quite a bit and you want to make sure you are getting what you need.
