Unreliable underhanded

I'm as "reseller" with Ipower and have had about 18 accounts for 14 years. As of late, their support is nothing but lip service and it's very difficult to understand the foreign accents. Often we experience problems with Ipower su...Read Morespending accounts for various reasons such as "Viruses found", Copyright infringmnentns, etc. When you try to get the problem solved with them it may be several days for them to unsuspend the sight. You are guilty until proven innocent and Ipower is the judge. You will also loose anything that relys on your domain such as online scheduling, emails, etc. I recommend seperate domain hosting/registar outside of ipower. Bottom line is they will cause heavy damage to your business and they just don't care. Find a company with business ethics. It's worth any extra money.Less

Disappointed / Frustrated !!!

I started as an Ipower reseller about nine years, and now I am realizing that I should have switched about 2 or 3 years ago.

For a few years they provided what services my customers needed, reliably. Three or four years ago, I ...Read Morestarted noticing issues. They were minor and handled fairly quickly. Over the last 12-18 months I have had numerous email issues. Messages not coming though, rejected, and now blocked by Spam filters. Even with messages from the same domains.

Finally, I have had enough when I am told the problem is fixed, I test it, and it fails immediately. I have tried three times to get them to solve the problems.

I am currently moving my customers to new a hosting services, before I start losing customers.
I have the same problem. What hosting company yo recommended???

Horrible service lost my domain

Had a domain hosted through them that I was working on. The site got cancelled through their rep someone bought it on auction. Chat 90% of the time on the site doesn't work, Phone calls are impossible to them, terrible customer support, and just overall bad service. Stay away.Less

If you expect any support READ THIS FIRST

I don't often feel compelled to write reviews. But I have been working with iPower on behalf of a client that wants to host with them.

Each time I interact with iPower I figure the time before was an anomaly and think TH...Read MoreIS IS THE TIME someone will really do their job and answer basic questions with efficiency and competency. So far they are 4 out of 4 for POOR communication and follow through.

Using their Chat feels like it's running through a pit of tar. I ask a question and then wait up to 5 min for the response. Instead of answering a very basic question, they will come back with "Hi How are you today?" Then I'll ask the question again and it will come back with "Yes I can help you with that" (again 3 min later") Then you wait....... and it goes on and on like this... A 5 Min question by chat can and has taken an hour.

I paid $150 for a migration and after 15 hours they just closed the ticket because they had a question. I had to go back in and open it.

This place is NOT GOOD. You could find a better support from the brain dead.

Support non existant

Their support team is nice enough but technically useless. Most support comes from India. There support group destroyed my up to that time working well site. I was so upset I ended up canceling the service in disgust. Today I was ...Read Moreoffered a good rate to return, I tried but after the published support #'s "unable to connect...." I called sales hoping to light a fire under them the rep lost my domain registration which was already held by them, then It's my fault for canceling the first time. I would urge anyone to use another provider, these guys talk a good game but don't have any of their Sh-t together. Run away quickly!!! I did and will continue to caution others about using their services.Less

Expert Overview

Quality hosting for small to mid-sized sites

iPower is a fairly large hosting company that boasts over 700,000 active accounts at any given time.  While they don’t come right out and say it, they are clearly targeting individuals as well as small businesses who want a nice hosting experience without spending too much.  Proof of this is in the fact that they don’t offer any dedicated server options and only two VPS choices.

They also offer three shared hosting packages that will provide you with everything you need to get up and going quickly and easily.

Since they were founded in 2001 they have had fairly steady growth and continue to keep their systems updated with the latest technologies to help ensure their customers are happy.

Uptime & Reliability

High quality datacenters and great stability

iPower has four datacenters, each of which have onsite security, CCTV and secure entry systems.  They keep their hardware up to date, which helps to avoid any unnecessary downtime.  One thing that several customers have complained about is that their technical support teams aren’t as knowledgeable as they should be.

This often means that while problems don’t happen too often, they can take longer than one would expect to get them fixed.  In addition, customers have to keep escalating their tickets to help ensure it finally gets to someone who knows how to fix the problem.  Most of these types of complaints are related to more complex issues, but that is something a hosting company should be ready for.

Free standard features with premiums available

No matter which of the hosting packages you choose you’ll get all the standard hosting features. They push Unix based hosting, though windows systems are available in some packages.  In addition, they have very few limitations for bandwidth or disk space.  The lowest level hosting package does put some additional limitations on the services they provide.

One really great feature is that when you sign up with their pro plus shared hosting package you get three free domain names for a year.  Most other hosting companies provide just one at the most.

All their datacenters are equipped with 24/7 on site monitoring, CCTV and much more to help keep your data protected.

Nice support options but techs may be unqualified

iPower offers you phone, email, live chat and other support options to get help when you need it.  While it is certainly easy to get in touch with the technicians, they may not always be able to help you as quickly as you would like.  When experiencing complex issues, their customers have reported that they had difficulty finding a support technician who was able to get them the solutions that they needed in a timely manner. After escalating, however, the issues were able to be resolved.

In addition to the actual tech support, they also provide nice user guides, tutorials, a knowledgebase and much more that will help you to avoid problems in the first place.

Fair prices with great discounts for upfront payment

The pricing at each level is fairly consistent with industry standards.  They do encourage customers to sign up for 2-3 years at a time, which will earn you a hefty discount at each level.  If you know you’ll be running your site for a long time and you are confident that you’ll be happy with this host, this is a great way to save some money.

In addition to these standard features they also have a number of extras such as SSL certificates, SEO services, online backs ups and more, but they come with added costs.

Nice Services with some history of support issues

Overall this is a good hosting company that will be able to provide you with good hosting for a long time.  They do a good job at keeping up with technology changes, which will help keep your site moving quickly.

While their limited number of VPS options and lack of dedicates servers will rule this company out for high end websites, they provide good hosting for entry level to mid-level website requirements.

  • Pricing for long term commitments is great
  • Backed by Endurance International Group (a major hosting provider company)
  • 24/7 live chat for technical issues

  • History of poorly skilled technical support staff
  • Custom control panel
  • $35 cancellation fee after the 30 day trial period
