Uptime & Reliability
100% Uptime and 100% Comfort
The SLAs offered by Rackspace give you a commitment of 100% uptime and severe control of data center infrastructure. The analysis provided by specialized websites shows that the homepage of Rackspace has been 99.99% online since 2005. That number is not just amazing, it’s almost impossible! With these scores, you can believe the uptime guarantee at Rackspace.
In order to ensure stable server work and perfect uptime, Rackspace has many important services, starting with solid RAID 10 hard disks and ending with server image backups. If you are searching for top-level solutions with the ability to create isolated networks, then this is the service for you. This web host places no restrictions on them, so you’ll get an abundance of new opportunities (such as server clustering).
Nice Racks With Many Extra Features
Rackspace provides great hardware if you have an advanced plan. You get an extremely flexible system allowing you to get as many relevant servers as you need.
The stuffing of some basic offers, however, is not as good. The cheapest plan includes only 512MB RAM, 20GB disk space and 1 vCPU (though the price is also low – the maximum of $16/mo). Also, it’s not quite clear which processors are used in Rackspace servers.
Still, small disadvantages of this cloud host are easily leveled by numerous additional features you get: new API, 15+ operation systems, improved geography adjustments, RAID 10, isolated networking, and a lot more. It is also possible to extend some important options by purchasing Rackspace’s additional services Cloud Files, Cloud Databases, Cloud DNS, etc.
If you’re not hosting professionals, this web host offers you a nice Managed Cloud service. It will cost you additional $100 monthly. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to do your own fine-tuning or have your hands free.
Along with Open Cloud solutions, Rackspace also offers Private and Hybrid Clouds. These services will give you even more possibilities, as these clouds are developed specifically for you. Still, Private and Hybrid solutions will require bigger investments.
Different plans have 20 to 1200GB per server. And all hard disks are protected by RAID 10.
Grab from 1 to 8 vCPUs depending on the package you choose.
Send and get cloud files at 20-300Mbps.
The internal transfer speed varies between 40Mbps in the cheapest plan to 600Mbps in the most expensive one.
Different plans have 512MB-30GB RAM, which is a really good choice.
They provide you with their own control panel – it’s easy to use, gives you lots of convenient tools, and has nice design.
A total of 16 options including Linux, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012 systems. Definitely, this is one of the best offers on the market.
If you have an iOS, Android or Windows Phone device, install Rackspace app to manage your servers remotely.
Dedicated Support for Every Cloud
Rackspace does their best to provide top-notch support to every client. The support teams work 24/7/365 and is accessible via phone, live chat and phone numbers. They also promise an immediate response to emergency support tickets. However, there are multiple complaints registered in user forums about the inconsistency of helpfulness and knowledge from customer support.

Fair Use-Based Fees
Rackspace uses one of the best pricing systems: you only pay for the time you spent on the virtual server management. If you think that their hourly prices are high, the truth is that they are above average— but that’s the price you pay for extra-class service.
They take into account the hardware and operation system you need and provide you with a reasonable per-hour price. Remember that the prices stated in the table are for only one server, so don’t forget to multiply them by the number of servers you need.
Rackspace has almost 30 cloud hosting plans, so in this table I will only show some of their middle plans – both managed and unmanaged. For full information about Rackspace cloud pricing please visit the Rackspace website.
Extra-Class Control Panel
The website of Rackspace comes across as messy because they provide a wide array of services. It takes you some time to navigate through and understand all of the features that will be included into your cloud server package.
Be aware that if you want to make a purchase, you have to sign-up first—which means you may get bombarded with future unwanted promotional emails.
The updside is that the control panel designed by Rackspace specialists puts unbelievable power into your hands. For instance, it will take you just a couple of minutes to spin up servers as well as to take them down, which is great if you need to make some serious improvements. You pay only for what you use, so with their control panel you can take the maximum advantage of open cloud.
As a smart bonus, you’ll get a mobile app for iOS, Android, or Windows Phone, which allows you to complete important management tasks wherever you’re connected. The easy-to-use server calculator helps you count the resources that you need for stable project performance.

More training and education needed in customer support
I have been trying to find a phone number for Customer Support for 2 days, I finally found one, they answered and transferred me to Customer Support, I have been on hold for 1 hour and 18 minutes already...and counting! You have an option to leave your number so they can call you back, but when you leave the number, it tells you that it is incorrect, that I need the country code, area code, and number, which I did 3 times and kept getting the same message. I have been with Rackspace for 15 years, I guess it is time to change companies!
After being with Rackspace for 15 years our company was by Rackspace stated “hacked via ransomeware” we were never a witness to this but in December of 2022 our systems went down. At the time we had 2 dozen companies on a guaranteed Exchange account that we were charged by Rackspace a $150 a month for our reseller agreement. After the system was down for days we were offered a last minute deal to transfer all our accounts to Microsoft directly to handle an immediate recovery. We were told that we would be charged “$0” for this until the system was restored completely.
After the months of recovery, we were told we could have Rackspace and Microsoft install Microsoft Office suite with the Microsoft to resolve the current issues. They ended up added hundreds of accounts to our system and then informed us 2 months later that we now owe Rackspace almost $3500 a month. After dozens of calls and emails to Rackspace they closed our all our email accounts for the dozens of companies that we manage.
Because of the lack of support and their inability to correct the issue and to not upgrade our account or migrate them correctly. We waited months with limited communications, the accounts that were affected and then Rackspace shut down our accounts again. During this time I migrated all our accounts and closed all accounts except for the main account because I was still waiting for backup. We did not use or create email accounts with those licenses. I reached out to customer support again, I've followed up with support monthly and being told that I need to pay an insane fee to correct the account and no one ever did. I was finally contacted by the CFO of Rackspace after several emails... and was informed that the mistake was made by them and would be corrected immediately.
After all the mixups, and finally getting through to the CFO of Rackspace I was promised that Rackspace would pay our company $3323.33 and provide us an apology. “now I’m getting back from Rackspace that there is no money to be paid our company and no apology for their inability to manage or mismanage all of our accounts!” At this point I would like to give Rackspace a huge “F” for Service and Support.
I as A Microsoft Certified System Engineer, and a Cisco Certified Network Professional know Rackspace used to be a creditable source for hosting by reputable companies, but now am so disappointed to say that is definitely not the case any more. I highly encourage all companies and individuals to avoid Rackspace at all cost for any reason or project and if you’re currently using Rackspace I recommend that you start looking into changing hosting solutions.
Moving to Rackspace cost us $7500 more than staying with AWS and all of that cost should have been prevented by the services we bought from them. However, when we asked for assistance it took them 6 months and dozens of calls to diagnose and find the cause which was something they should have reviewed as a part of the service we contracted for. Their negligence in oversight and lack of customer service cost us thousands and they refused to take any responsibility for their part even though they could see the long delays in response time. Do NOT switch from AWS to Rackspace!
Total system failure 3 days ago. No resolution. No support. If you do get a call back it is in the middle of the night and all they do is read the same "instructions" from the website that do not work. At all. Avoid at all cost because it will cost you.
Dec 22, Exchange servers all compromised, ZERO transparency to customers after 48 hours, no data, no email, no communication. I would never trust them again after 10 years. Once a company goes public, it's all about the bottom line, not service and support, which you expect from a tech company.
It's literally a 50/50 shot that you'll receive emails or your clients will receive emails you've sent. Half the time it doesn't even kick back saying it hasn't been sent. You're left in the dark... clients getting pissed thinking you're not on the ball. I would trust Bill Cosby alone with my daughter if I had one before I would trust rackspace to deliver an email. HORRIBLE!!!!!
