Choosing the right VPN isn’t the easiest decision since countless VPNs exist. You need to carefully select the one that meets your requirements and is the best for your business. Today is the day when we’re going to discuss FastComet.

Although it’s relatively young and not-so-popular, FastComet managed to grab my attention. Getting Started with FastComet VPS Plans

FastComet is the most cost-efficient hosting solution when your online business grows, but you don’t want to manage everything yourself. Well, at least that’s what they claim when you first open their website.

They offer total server management so that you can focus only on your business and website and rapid provision that’s fully set up and ready to boost your website performance. The VPN hosting is powered by cPanel, the most popular and influential web hosting control panel for easy point-and-click management. Let’s put their claim to the test!

First things first, let’s see what plans they offer.

screenshot of VPS hosting plans

FastComet VPS hosting offers four plans: Cloud 1, Cloud 2, Cloud 3, and Cloud 4. Let’s see what all these plans have in common. All four plans offer cPanel, WHM, softaculous, free SSH access, free domain transfer, free site setup, and free website transfer. They all offer guaranteed resources, SSD file storage, MySQL on SSD, optimized server setup, and free Cloudflare CDN for speed and performance.

Now let’s talk security and backup. Cloud 1, Cloud 2, Cloud 3, and Cloud 4 offer a network firewall that will protect your hosting account and website from common attacks. They also offer a web application firewall, precisely optimized protection for Open Source applications. All plans have brute-force protection and exploits and malware protection that will prevent exploits. Free daily backups, complimentary weekly backups, free backup, restore, and server monitoring is also included in all four plans.

You’ll get 24/7 technical support, 24/7 system administration support with a 10 minute response time. Now, this is something that I liked. Also, you’ll get free website setup and free website transfer.

screenshot of VPS hosting plans

So far, I like what I’m seeing. These great features are what the four plans have in common, but now let’s see what makes them different.

Of course, the price is different, Cloud 1 being the cheapest and Cloud 4 the most expensive plan. If you purchase the cheapest plan, you’ll get a single 2.50 GHz core, 2 GB ECC RAM, 50 GRB SSD Space, 2 TB bandwidth, and a 2000 Mbps Network out. Cloud 2 has two 2.50GHz cores and 4GB RAM. It also has more space, 80GB SSD space, to be particular. It also comes with 4 TB bandwidth and 4000 Mbps network out. Let’s see what Cloud 3 has to offer. Cloud 3 comes with even four 2.50GHz cores and double the RAM than Cloud 2. It has 160 GB SSD space,  5 TB bandwidth, and a 5000 Mbps network. Finally, we’re looking into the most expensive Cloud. Cloud 4 costs two times more than Cloud 1, but is it worth spending all that money? So, you will get six 2.50GHz cores and 16 GB RAM for double the price. You’ll also get 320 GB SSD space, 8 TB bandwidth, and up to 6000 Mbps network out.

Note
Note: FastComet is powered by nine enterprise-class data centers. Three of them are located in North America, two in Europe, and four in Asia-Pacific.

While some of the main features are included in all four plans, the differences in SSD web space, data transfer, CPU power, and RAM availability is what make each Cloud special.

Note
Note:  At the time of my purchase, using the coupon HELLO20 was granting 20% off the price.

I liked that FastComet VPS comes fully managed so that you can focus on your business and website. I also liked that it is powered by cPanel, the most popular and influential web hosting control panel for easy point-and-click management. I liked everything I saw, but is everything as they say? It’s time to put them to the ultimate test.

Warning
Warning: FastComet is so confident that you’ll love their service that they only offer a seven-day money-back guarantee. So you only have seven days to decide whether this is the proper VPS for you. Many other VPS offer 30 days money-back guarantee.

I think it’s enough with the theory, and it’s time to get to business. I will purchase the cheapest plan, in this case, called Cloud 1. I think that the cheapest plan will give me the proper insight into FastComet VPS, and it will tell me everything I need to know to complete my research. So let’s shop!

screenshot of VPS hosting plans

I clicked on Order Now to start the purchase process. First, I needed to choose whether I was a new or existing customer. Since this is my first time reviewing this VPS, I clicked on I’m a new customer. Next, I needed to fill in the account information. Fill out the blank spaces with first name, last name, email, country, etc.

screenshot of VPS hosting account information

The next thing you need to do is fill out product information. Firstly, you check the VPS plan that you want to purchase. In my case, that will be the Cloud SSD VPS 1 plan. The data center location was automatically set in Frankfurt, a data center nearest to my country. Next thing, I’m choosing the period. You have the option to choose one or three months. Since I’m purchasing for research purposes only, I click on one month.

Warning
Warning: The special initial price applies for the first invoice only. When the initial term is over, the regular renewal price will apply.

FastComet also offers some extras to add to your shopping cart before checking out.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

You can add BitNinja server security to your plan, protecting your server with an advanced server solution. BitNinja will give you full-stack protection against XSS, DDoS, malware, scans, script injection, enumeration, and brute force.

If you’re willing to spend more money, you can also add the Search Engine Optimization Audit, SpamExperts outbound filter, VPS offsite cloud backup, performance boost, and analytics. You can choose one of these extras or get them all. It all depends on what you need and how much cash you want to spend. Once you’re done with that, It’s time to fill in the payment information.

FastComet VPS hosting allows you to pay with a credit card or PayPal. I’m paying with my credit card, so I’m going to fill in the info.

Setting up a FastComet VPS plan

The first thing FastComet offered me was a tour.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

I took the tour and managed to screenshot everything along the way so that you can see the short tour in the images just below.

screenshot of FastComet VPSscreenshot of FastComet VPSscreenshot of FastComet VPSscreenshot of FastComet VPSscreenshot of FastComet VPSscreenshot of FastComet VPS

After I finished the tour, It was time to dive into the world of FastComet Hosting. Let’s start with the Home button. Here you have all the information about your account and your active products. You also have the option to submit a ticket, register a domain, pay bills, and edit details.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

You also have a Security Token. This token will authenticate that you’re the account holder to the FastComet Customer Service via live chat or phone.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

When you scroll down, you’ll see the Register Domain button. Here you have the option to register your domain for a certain amount of money. All you need to do is type in the domain name and see if it’s available for purchase. The price range of the domain names differs, so choose the one that fits the price you’re willing to pay.

screenshot of FastComet VPS domain price

Right above the Register Domain section, you can see Products/Service. Here you can see the name of the product you’ve purchased and the status of your product.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

Right near the status, you can see a small icon, CP. If you click on the icon, you’ll get instant access to your cPanel. Through your cPanel, you’ll be able to manage your accounts, backs up, images and have access to everything.

screenshot of FastComet VPS cPanel

Another thing I would like to mention since we’re discussing the cPanel is that Cloudflare is included in the cPanel. Cloudflare is a great way to speed up and optimize your cPanel site. Cloudflare will also deliver content to users faster, and it includes DDoS protection that will protect against vulnerabilities and monitor your bandwidth saved and threats blocked.

screenshot of FastComet VPS cloudflare

Let’s move on to the products section.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

In this section, you can see the products you own. In my case, I only had one product here: VPS Cloud SSD VPS 1. Just under My products, you can spot the Order button. Once you click on that, you’ll see a few options where you can spend more money. For instance, you can additionally purchase Shared hosting. The shared hosting is presented with three plans: FastCloud, FastCloud plus, and FastCloud Extra. The plans are pretty affordable, and for a certain amount of money, you can get a few extra features: free Cloudflare CDN, unlimited FTP accounts, Unlimited databases, multiple PHP versions, etc. One great thing about the different plans is that they have a 45-days money return policy, which is a lot more than Kickstart’s seven days-return policy.

screenshot of FastComet VPS plans

Since I’m not buying anything else right now, I’m moving on to the following button, Renew. In this section, you can choose the period and billing cycle to renew your hosting package. You can choose to renew monthly or quarterly. Renewing the product will extend its current due date with the billing cycle duration you choose.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

The View add-ons button will allow you to purchase more add-ons the fastest way possible. You have more than ten add-ons suggested for purchase, with different price tags. If you decide on purchasing any of the add-ons, you need to click on the green button that says Add to cart, and your product will be available for you.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

Now let’s discuss the My domains sections.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

As you can see, just next to My domains, I have the number zero since I don’t have any domain registered. Here is the option to register a new domain.

screenshot of FastComet VPS domain register

You have more than 500+ TLDs as unique as your business to choose from. Of course, the domain name isn’t free, but the price range varies, so I assume you’ll find the right one that fits the price you’re willing to pay. You also have the option to secure your domain by adding more years to them. You have to choose how many years you want to renew and then submit to continue.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

FastComet also allows you to transfer your domain name to them. If you enter your domain name, you can start transferring. It’s as simple as a click.

The next thing on my list is the Billing Button.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

In this section, you can check out your invoices and add funds. As you can see from the image below, I have one invoice, and I can get all the info on my payment on the View Invoice button.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

Since I don’t have any active orders, I couldn’t add funds, but  I had the option to deposit money in advance. I could deposit 10 dollars minimum and 100 dollars maximum deposit. The maximum balance was 300 dollars.

You can’t do anything without a great support system, so it’s time to check their support. FastComet VPS hosting offers countless incredible tutorials written by experts that will help you turn from a beginner to a professional web admin. Just click on the tutorials you find exciting and enjoy learning new things.

You could also use their Web Hosting Knowledge base if you’re looking for more info. This knowledge base will help you find the answer to commonly asked questions. You have more than 80 articles on different subjects such as cPanel, web hosting, domains and DNS, application, Billing, and Pre-Sale questions.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

And one amazing thing I liked is that you can submit a ticket if you’re having any issues. When you click on Submit Ticket, you’ll be presented with an option to choose depending on the issue you’re experiencing.

screenshot of FastComet VPS

I wanted to try this Ticket option, so I clicked on General support. To submit your ticket to general support, you need to fill in all the information the support team needs to help you, click on Submit, and wait for a return ticket.

Tip
Tip: If you click on the Promotions button, you’ll be able to see the list of domain names that are on sale, so it’s a great way to save some bucks.

Performance, Speed, and Uptime

I consider FastComet VPS hosting to offer outstanding VPS performance. A hosting that has 11 data centers all over the world knows how to provide fantastic performance. They have an average complete page loading in 1.7 seconds, which is not bad. The uptime also stayed consistent at 99.9%, which is probably among the best uptime scores in the industry.

Speed is one of the main factors when choosing a suitable VPS. Cloud 1 has a 2000 Mbps network out. Therefore, FastComet offers not only fantastic server uptime but also fantastic speed.

FastComet VPS Customer Support

FastComet claims that they have 24/7/365 live support, so let’s see if that’s true. They also offer support via email, ticketing, and phone calls.

screenshot of FastComet VPS customer support

I decided to test their chat and contact someone from tech support. The moment I clicked on live chat, the little window opened. I typed in my info and then my message.

I was trying to get info on returning the plan and getting a refund. Then I clicked on Start chatting. After 10 seconds, I got an answer from their tech support Todor. Their response time was truly unique! Great job, FastComet tech support!

screenshot of FastComet VPS customer support

Todor was nice enough to explain everything I needed to cancel my plan the fastest way possible.

screenshot of FastComet VPS customer support

I explained to Todor that the only reason for purchasing their plan was research. Since I was already finished and saw everything that needed to be seen, It was time to cancel the plan and get a refund. Todor sent me a link that will help me easily cancel my plan and demand a refund.

Security and Backups

FastComet VPS hosting has a network firewall, protecting your account and website, preventing password brute force, denial of service, and many other common attacks.

For the same price, you’ll also get a web application firewall and brute-force protection. These features will protect open-source applications and will also protect you against attacks. They also offer a self-improving system that monitors all website requests to prevent known security threats and application exploits.

screenshot of FastComet VPS security

FastComet VPS has free daily backups, complimentary weekly backups, free backup restore, server monitoring, and power/network/hardware redundancy when it comes to backups. It’s great that all these features are offered with all four plans, so you don’t have to spend extra money on security and backups.

Summary

Slowly we reached the end of our journey, and to be honest, I was pleased with what I saw. I need to emphasize that FastComet VPS hosting is not the cheapest VPS hosting in this industry, but they’re a solid choice if you’re not on a tight budget.

I was amazed by their support system, especially their live chat. I got a response from their tech support in less than 10 seconds, and that was awesome. They were kind and helpful.

The bottom line is that if you need user-friendly and reliable VPS hosting and you’re ready to spend a bit more money, Fast Comet might be the right choice for you. I wouldn’t say I liked that they have a seven-day money-return policy. In my opinion, seven days are not enough time to see whether this VPS is the right match for you. Apart from it, I found other features useful and would recommend them!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I host multiple websites on my FastComet VPS?

Yes, you can. Every VPS provides complete access to cPanel and WHM control panel through which you can create countless independent hosting accounts with their websites and domains. Each hosting account will have an independent cPanel control panel, making the VPS hosting ideal for resellers, agencies, and people who need hosting for multiple independent projects on a single solution.

What is the difference between FastComet VPS and Shared hosting?

A website hosted on a Shared Hosting environment has access to a shared pool of server resources available to a single physical or virtual server. Since this is the nature of the setup, each user has certain limitations and restrictions on the number of resources that can be allocated for a specific period. Although the Shared Hosting service is cost-efficient for the end-user, some high-traffic and resource-demanding websites and apps may require more than the available fair-shared resources or a more flexible setup and configuration. VPS provides excellent alternatives because it’s much more affordable than a fully dedicated server and more potent in performance than a typical shared hosting service.

What is the difference between VPS and a Dedicated CPU server?

Virtual Private Servers are fully independent and share the underlying physical hardware with other VPSs. These features mean that they still compete for the CPU and memory of the hosting hardware infrastructure. This setup gives a VPS a guaranteed amount of resources to utilize but doesn’t provide exclusive access to the hardware hosting infrastructure. On the other hand, the Dedicated CPU servers have fully dedicated CPU cores and memory, 100% availability, and isolation from other servers. The Dedicated CPU servers are more expensive, and they’re more suitable for very resource-intensive and high-traffic websites and applications.

What is the difference between managed and unmanaged VPS services?

An unmanaged service means you have access to a specific hosting environment with minimal configuration and setup. You’ll need to install, configure, and maintain all software and technical aspects by yourself. The unmanaged service usually doesn’t have technical support and a control panel. The bottom line is that unmanaged services are recommended for very experienced users with lots of technical knowledge. On the other hand, the FastComet fully managed service will give you a complete setup and optimized server with a powerful web-based control panel. They also have 24/7 technical support that will take care of your server security, optimization and will help you with technical issues, free of charge.

Which is the right VPS hosting plan for me?

You can always upgrade and downgrade your VPS server. If you’re unsure which plan is the perfect choice for you, we recommend choosing the basic plan and scaling up from there. On the other hand, if you already have an active site for transfer, we recommend a server with at least 4GB RAM for the most optimal experience.
