THCServers is a newer company, founded back in 2013. It was founded by a small group of college friends who continue to run the company today. They offer low cost shared hosting, VPS hosting and dedicated servers as well as VPN services and SSL certificates. They operate out of Australia and market themselves as a hosting company “For Geeks, By Geeks.”
While they may market their services toward tech geeks, they do seem to have a good understanding of how to make their services clear to those who are not knowledgeable in this area as well.
Uptime & Reliability
Some Concerns for Reliability
You’ll only get a 99% uptime guarantee with this company, which is significantly lower than the standard 99.9% or 99.99% that most companies offer today. In addition, given the low prices of the shared hosting servers it seems likely that they will be overselling them, at least at the lower level packages. This can result in slow response speeds.
The hardware itself is nice and configured properly to prevent outages so that shouldn’t be a concern. They don’t provide much information about their data centers, which is unfortunate.
I tried to find customer reviews on this company but since it is a fairly new provider there wasn’t much to go on from real customers.
Features
Easy to Understand Feature List
The features with this company are laid out in a very simple to read and understand chart. The shared hosting options have unlimited disk space and bandwidth on each of the three packages. You are limited to 5 or 10 email addresses on the first two, but the third has unlimited. They all include nightly backups and MySql databases as well as unlimited FTP accounts.
When you move to the VPS solutions you’ll have more choices to make, but it is still easy with an interactive buying guide. You slide the bar to the package you want, select whether you want cPanel or no cPanel and it will give you the price. VPS start with 1 CPU and 1 gig of RAM and can go up to 4 CPUs and 5 gigs of RAM.
Their dedicated servers all have SSD for the OS and SATA drives for data, which is a nice way to do it. They have six total options for dedicated servers so you can get exactly what you want. They also have the option for both Intel and AMD based machines, which is a nice option that most companies don’t have.
Support
Easy to Reach Tech Support
The tech support team is there 24/7 and can be reached through email or a ticketing system. They also have a nice knowledge base with a good amount of information in it to get yourself up to speed with their hosting services.
Pricing
Low Priced Hosting
The prices for all their hosting packages is quite low. Shared hosting starts at just $1.95 per month and tops out at $5.95. This is significantly lower than most other companies would provide for similar service levels. VPS ranges from $14.95 per month all the way up to $95.95 per month depending on the features you require. Finally, the dedicated servers range from $99.95 per month up to $349 depending on what you need. At each level the prices are below what I would expect based on the hardware included.
Summary
Nice Hosting with Some Concerns
